The Christmas album is a collection of the beautiful Christmas songs we have all come to know and love throughout the years. The songs are sung by the angelic voices of some very talented Christian youth.
The songs presented on the album cover the events that occurred during the Christmas period from when St Mary was approached by the Archangel Gabriel and the feelings she would have felt at the news and the knowledge that she would be carrying the Saviour of the world, through to the glorious birth of Christ in the manger and the gifts that were presented to him by the wise men.
The majesty of the Virgin shines brilliantly in the choice of her by the Lord, from among all the women of the world. The only human being for whom the divine providence waited thousands of years, till He found her, and judged that she deserved that immense honor which the angel Gabriel explained saying: “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).
St Mark’s Melodies and Asaph Tunes present their first Album together which are covers for some of the well known Christmas carols sung by very talented young people. This is a perfect gift to present to others as a source of joyful Christian songs for youth, children and adults.
This is what St John Chrysostom has to say in praise of Christmas:
“Behold on Christmas a new and wondrous reality. The angels sing and the archangels blend their voices in harmony. The Cherubim hymn their joyful praise. The Seraphim exalt Christ’s glory. All join to praise this holy feast, beholding the Godhead here on earth and man in heaven. He Who is above now for our redemption dwells here below, and we who are lowly are by divine mercy raised up. Bethlehem this day resembles heaven, hearing from the stars the singing of angelic voices” – St John Chrysostom
